Yu Energy’s out-of-contract and deemed rates are different. Compare both schedules below. All unit rates and standing charges are Yu’s published prices before VAT and CCL. The calculator adds tax to your monthly and annual cost estimates. Use the plan name on your bill to identify which applies.

Unit prices are pence per kilowatt-hour. Standing charges are shown in pounds and pence per day. Supplier rates exclude VAT and CCL. All gas bands and standing charges
Yu uses annual quantity (AQ) to set the gas band. The published ranges are reproduced below; the highest band has a minimum standing charge.

Half-hourly electricity: regional, capacity and metering charges
Half-hourly electricity uses a separate schedule. The figures below follow the selected plan. Standing charges are minimums; additional fixed costs may be passed through.

What about Freedom, Extended Supply and water?
Freedom is a separate flexible plan. Yu’s linked Freedom PDF gives non-half-hourly electricity at 63.98p/kWh plus £4.80/day before VAT and CCL, effective 10 August 2026. A plan name alone does not settle its notice requirements: check the underlying contract and microbusiness protections.
Some non-microbusiness accounts may instead be on an Extended Supply arrangement. Check your renewal documents against Yu’s explanation before assuming you are on Transition rates. Water is priced using wholesale charges plus an uplift; see the final page of the relevant supplier PDF.
What could these
rates cost you?

Could a lower tax rate apply?
Qualifying use includes charitable non-business activities, residential use and eligible small quantities. Charity status alone is not enough. In Great Britain, qualifying electricity has temporary 0% VAT from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027; qualifying gas has 5% VAT. These qualifying supplies have no CCL.
Small quantities are assessed over the billing period, not simply from annual usage. Only choose relief if the whole supply qualifies. Mixed use and Climate Change Agreement discounts need a separate check. HMRC eligibility guidance ↗
Look for EAC on an electricity bill or AQ on a gas bill. These are usage examples, not business-size classifications.
Annualised estimate at the rates checked on 13 October 2026: usage × supplier unit price + 365 standing charges + CCL, then VAT. VAT applies to CCL too. The average month is the annual total ÷ 12. This is not a forecast of the next 12 months; tax and supplier rates can change, and extra site charges are excluded.

Do you need to
send a termination?
For a qualifying microbusiness, a separate termination notice is generally unnecessary when switching at the end of a fixed term or from an out-of-contract arrangement.
Ofgem removed these notice requirements from 1 October 2022. A genuine evergreen agreement is treated differently. “SME” alone does not establish which protections apply. Read Ofgem’s decision.
Yu’s website includes broad notice statements. Apply the relevant licence protection to your contract and status; supplier wording cannot displace it. A no-notice right does not waive outstanding charges or guarantee an immediate transfer.
Check my contract positionFixed term ending / microbusiness out of contract
No separate notice is required to switch at the end of the fixed term, or from a qualifying out-of-contract arrangement. This does not create a general right to leave an unexpired fixed term early.
Rollover is different from evergreen
Microbusiness rollover arrangements also have no-notice protections. A genuine evergreen contract may require up to 30 days; notice from the incoming supplier must be accepted.
Deemed supply or a larger business?
Deemed contracts cannot require switching notice or a termination fee. For other non-microbusiness contracts, review the agreed terms and any Extended Supply position.
