Why Smart Energy?

Why Compare Through an Independent Broker?

Going direct to a supplier only shows you their prices. We show you the whole market — and do the legwork so you don't have to.

Genuinely Unbiased

We're not tied to any supplier. If someone else is better for you, we'll tell you — even if we can't quote them.

One Form, 28+ Quotes

Fill in your details once and we'll get prices from every relevant supplier. No chasing, no repetition.

We Handle the Switch

Paperwork, supplier liaison, meter readings — we manage the whole process so you can focus on your business.

Support That Continues

Renewal reminders, market updates, billing queries — we're here for the life of your contract, not just the sale.

How do we get paid?

We earn a commission from suppliers when you switch — but you pay nothing extra. Our prices are often cheaper than going direct because we negotiate volume rates. We'll always show you exactly what we earn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about comparing suppliers and working with us

Yes. We're an independent energy broker — we're not owned by any supplier and we're not paid to rank suppliers in any particular order. Our reviews are based on our direct experience of working with these suppliers every day, processing contracts, and hearing feedback from customers.

If we partner with a supplier, we'll tell you. If we don't, we'll still give you the facts so you can make your own decision.

When you switch through us, we earn a commission from the supplier. This is built into the rate and we're completely transparent about it — we'll always show you exactly what we earn.

Our prices are often cheaper than going direct because we negotiate volume rates with suppliers. You get a better deal, and we get paid by the supplier — not by you.

Each supplier page breaks down the key details: who they're best suited to, contract terms, and any important things to know. We also cover whether they require smart meters, how they handle out-of-contract rates, and what real customers say about them.

If you'd rather not do the research yourself, request a free comparison and we'll show you only the suppliers that match your business.

Not always. Each supplier has their own rules on meter types, regions, and usage levels. We'll only show you the options that actually apply to your business.

For example, Drax only provides electricity quotes, while TEM only supplies half-hourly meters. This ensures every quote you see is genuinely available to you.

Out-of-contract (OOC) rates are usually much higher than fixed rates. Each supplier page links directly to their current OOC rates so you know exactly what you'd be paying — and how much you could save by switching.

This is often where the biggest savings come from. If you're already out of contract, get in touch and we can typically get you onto a better rate quickly.

Most business switches complete within 2–5 working days with no downtime. We handle all the admin for you.

We recommend agreeing a contract at least 2 weeks before your current contract expires to ensure you don't fall into out-of-contract rates.

When's the best time to renew?

Yes. You can switch either one or both together. We'll compare quotes from all relevant suppliers across our panel of 28+ providers — whether you need just electricity, just gas, or both.

Not Sure Which Supplier to Choose?

Skip the research. Fill in one form and we'll compare quotes from all 28+ suppliers — showing you only the options that fit your business.
